Labour MEP for the South West and Gibraltar, Clare Moody, today confirmed that she would nominate Exeter MP Ben Bradshaw for the Deputy Leadership of the Labour Party.
"I believe Ben Bradshaw has the experience and the ideas necessary to regenerate the Labour Party in these challenging times.
"At the General Election, on what was a very sad night for Labour in the South West, Ben not only retained his Exeter constituency but trebled his majority. That result is testament both to his campaigning credentials and his ability to speak to different groups of the electorate; skills that I believe are essential for the next Deputy Leader.
"If the Labour Party is to win again, we must learn from Exeter's success. As an MEP for the South West, I also want to know that The Labour Party has at its core a desire to represent the south as much as the north, and the knowledge and the expertise to win there.
"I am therefore delighted to nominate Ben Bradshaw for Deputy Leader of the Labour Party."
