Clare Moody has strongly condemned the latest violent incursion by Spanish customs into Gibraltar’s territorial waters.
Crew members aboard the Spanish customs vessel Aguila IV are alleged to have shot at and attempted to board a fishing vessel when inside British-Gibraltar territorial waters.
Clare, who will be visiting Gibraltar again next month for the National Day celebrations, said:
“These continued incursions represent an outrageous provocation by one European Union member state against another. It is absolutely unacceptable.
“The continued escalation in violence by forces acting in the name of the Spanish government poses a serious threat of injury or death. I extend strong feelings of solidarity to the people of Gibraltar and I will be pushing the Foreign and Commonwealth Office to work for a swift resolution on the issue.”
