Clare did a number of radio interviews during the day of the Scottish election result she was delighted that the result was an endorsement of staying within the United Kingdom. She also believes that there is now an opportunity to take time to look at ways to bring government closer to the people of the South West and England more widely. It is more important to get this right than do it quickly. She also commented that 'The turnout in the referendum, is something that politicians dream of. We must learn from the campaign about engaging people in politics.'

She was also delighted to be able to return to Budmouth College. She took part in their Democracy Day earlier in the year and was pleased to return as an elected MEP. She had a lively discussion with politics and law students on a range of issues; including much debate on the under representation of women in Westminster politics and Labour's positive discrimination policies that seek to correct the imbalance.
